Benedyktynka has its origins in 1510, when an Italian monk Bernardo Vincelli, staying at the monastery in Fecamp (Normandy), made a mixture of rum, herbs and roots. As a medication for the sick and weak brethren, it soon received wide recognition and fame, not only among the Benedictine monasteries, but among royal courts as well.

An original recipe was modified and improved, due to the herbs which were available in th area.

Using a centuries long tradition, various monasteries worked out their own recipes, original in taste and aroma.

The Benedyktynka from Lubiń, which is a part of this tradition, is a splendid liqueur made on the basis of 21 herbs. In the past it was used not only to strengthen a body but also for various digestive system ailments (pains, indigestions, inflammations, flatulances, heartburns), as a warm up, migraine soothing and sleep improving medication.
